Pawley’s Island Rope and Fabric Hammocks

The original Pawley’s Island Rope Hammock came to life over 100 years ago on the South Carolina Coast by River Boat Pilot Joshua John Ward. Captain Josh crafted a hammock without knots and with a continuous weave that offers a cool comfortable rest. Today, the Original Pawley’s Island Rope Hammock features custom design stretcher bars cut from seasoned hardwood, then steamed, bent, drilled, sanded, and varnished. The rope body is hand sewn with a rhythmic motion of rope knitting in and out of the hammock body. The hammock is then finished by connecting it to strong plaited ends strung through the spreader bar and tied with nautical bowline knots. The same century old weave design invented by Captain Josh is still used today and is the reason the Pawley’s Island name is known world wide as the symbol of relaxation.

Available in six different colors: Green, Oatmeal, Taupe, Antique Brown, Coastal Blue, and Garnet.

Two layers of durable Duracord fabric are quilted together and filled with a soft polyester fiberfill for maximum cushioned comfort. The duracord fabric offers the highest level of UV protection in the industry. It is fast drying and the most stain resistant fabric available. It will not rot, mold, or support mildew growth because DuraCord is quick drying and does not absorb water. Furthermore, Duracord transports moisture away from the body for a “cooling” effect. The end result is a beautiful and colorful fabric that will provide an extremely long outdoor life. Support ropes are constructed of the same durable Duracord rope material and the spreader bars are made of solid Oak coated with a polyurethane varnish for long outdoor wear. Each hammock measures 13 feet in length with a bed size of 55 inches by 82 inches.

Quick Dry hammocks come with a solid oak spreader bar and 100% soft spun polyester hanging rope. The duracord fabric has the soft feel of cotton fabric, but is much more durable than even polyester. It offers the highest level of UV protection in the industry and is the most stain resistant fabric available.
